The Contact Nap Loop

Shared by a parent of a 4-month-old

It's almost impossible to get him to take a nap unless it's a contact nap. I can have him fast asleep, wait 20 minutes, put him down, and five minutes later his eyes open like, wait, I'm all alone.

What happened next

Most naps still needed a lot of support. Some days, the choice felt like rocking him back to sleep, holding him for the nap, or giving up on the nap altogether.
